  1. Mar 07, 2011 Bringing the master level up in Traktor to -10dB with my set up gives a similar level on my mixer as I get with a CDJ. Remember The master volume, set to -10dB in Traktor. The key thing to take away here is that 0dB in Traktor really means maximum output. Using a master setting of -10dB (or even much lower) will give you a fighting chance of keeping the levels kicking on the dancefloor without distorting.

The meters on the S4MK3 mixer channels are now aligned to the software channel meters independently from the headroom settings. May 17, 2012  The recommended setting for using Traktor on most MacBook Pro is 44100 Hz Sample rate and 512 MS Latency. This is because this is the standard sample rate used by most CDs. Download & Install Traktor

To get Traktor up and running, all you need to do is download the software from their website here, then follow the instructions they provide to get it setup.

Download & Install BUTT

As Traktor doesn't have an encoder you will need to download broadcasting software to do the job. BUTT is a fantastic piece of free software that's available on Mac, Windows, and Linux systems.

As Traktor doesn't have an encoder to broadcast live you will need to download and setup additional software to capture your computer's audio as mentioned below for either your Mac or Windows system.

  • Windows: How to enable and setup stereo Stereo Mix on your Windows based computer.
  • Mac: How to setup both Soundflower & LineIn needed for your Mac computer.

Enter Your Radio Station's Details

Once you have BUTT up and running, enter your station’s details found within your Radio.co dashboard - This is your host, port, and password.

  • Type: SHOUTcast
  • Address: E.g. silver.radio.co
  • Port: E.g. 1172
  • Password: E.g. 1a2b3c4d5e6f

Schedule Live Events

Note: Schedule a live event before you broadcast by setting an event within your station's calendar by following this guide.

Connect & Broadcast

When you’re ready to connect play audio in Traktor and hit the play button in BUTT, you should see a successful connection established.

You're now up and broadcasting with Traktor to your radio station!

Do you remember the kerfuffle when Native Instruments announced the Remix Decks idea? And that unlike everything else, it was very firmly off the mapping table? Well apparently with Traktor Pro 2.6.2, mapping Remix Decks is, amongst other things, very firmly ON the mapping table now.

Alongside the long awaited Remix Deck mapping, this release also makes Traktor compatible with the forthcoming Kontrol Z1 controller/mixer. Here’s the full rundown, painstaking copied from the info button in the NI Service Centre, because NI don’t seem to want to let people know that it’s actually out for some reason:

Traktor Pro 2 Mac

I don’t get to spend anywhere near enough time inside the belly of Traktor to know if the Remix Decks are any good or not. It does seem to be a feature that NI are pushing hard with a slew of Remix Deck packs, but doesn’t really feel like it’s getting any traction outside of controllerist communities like DJ Techtools. But it’s great that you can now map your favourite controller to use the full Remix Deck feature set, although you’re still going to need an RGB button enabled controller to get the fullest experience.

Having kicked this update around the inner circle of DJWORX however, mapping the Remix Decks is no walk in the park though. I’m certainly not about to try, but I’m sure one of us will report on our findings in detail. Personally, I’m more excited for the next full version of Traktor that hopefully will have more new and cool stuff for the wider Traktor user base.
